Departure - Sunday
ø Depart New York City JFK Airport in the afternoon for flight to Accra, Ghana, arriving at 6:00 AM the following morning.

Day 1 - Sunday: Accra - Labadi Beach
ø Morning: Arrival in Accra and meeting by your AfricaBound host to assist with Entry Formalities and transfer to hotel.
ø Noon: Off to Labadi Beach for lunch and relaxation. Receive your African name in a traditional ceremony.
ø Dinner and overnight in Accra.

Day 2 - Monday: Cape Coast - Elmina
ø Morning: Depart for Cape Coast and Elmina, arriving late morning for brief tour of the town of Cape Coast and transfer to hotel. Lunch at the hotel.
ø Afternoon: Visit the Volta Fishermen Community, a coastal village with traditional industries and Volta style houses made of thatch. Tour Elmina Castle, a World Heritage site where slaves were held before being sent to the New World, followed by a walk through the fishing harbor of Elmina.
ø Dinner at the Saana Lodge and overnight in Elmina.

Day 3 - Tuesday: Cape Coast - Kakum Park
ø Morning: Tour Cape Coast Castle - another World Heritage Site.
ø Late morning: Drive to Kakum Rain Forest, stopping at Boatel for Lunch and a chance to see crocodiles and weaverbirds. After lunch, continue to Kakum for a Nature Walk in the Rain Forest and along the Aerial Walkway, giving you a birds-eye view of the tree canopy.
ø Dinner and overnight in Elmina.

Day 4 - Wednesday: Kumasi
ø Morning: Depart for Kumasi and the Kingdom of Gold.
ø Mid-day: arrive at Obouasi for Lunch at Goldfinger's - the best hamburger in all of West Africa.
ø Afternoon: Tour of an Ashanti Gold Mine - one of the richest mines in the world.
ø Late Afternoon: Continue on to Kumasi and transfer to hotel.
ø Dinner and overnight in Kumasi.

Day 5 - Thursday: Kumasi - Bosumtwe
ø Morning: Visits to craft villages of Pankrono (pottery), Ahwiaa (woodcarving), and Ntonso (adinkra cloth) with demonstrations of crafts. Lunch at the hotel.
ø Afternoon: Excursion to Lake Bosumtwe - formed by a meteor impact crater and nestled in the heart of bamboo forests and rolling hills. Optional Picnic Lunch on the shores of the lake.
ø Late Afternoon: Return to Kumasi for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - Friday: Kumasi
ø Morning: Visit to Bonwire, the home of Africa's famous kente cloth.
ø Noon: Visit the Kumasi Cultural Center and Lunch at the Kente Kitchen with Ghanaian cuisine.
ø Afternoon: Visit to Manhiya Palace and an Audience with the Ashanti King or members of his Royal Court.
ø Dinner and overnight in Kumasi.

Day 7 - Saturday: Kumasi - Accra
ø Morning: Visit to Kumasi Central Market - the largest in West Africa. Lunch at the hotel and check-out.
ø Afternoon: Attend a traditional Ashanti Funeral with retinues of mourners and drummers.
ø Late Afternoon: Departure for Accra - arriving in late evening.
ø Transfer to hotel for Dinner and overnight in Accra.

Day 8 - Sunday: Accra - Kokrobite Beach
ø Morning: Visit the Salaga Beach fishermen with an opportunity to help bring in the morning catch. Meet families of fishermen on the cliff overlooking the Gulf of Guinea, followed by a visit to Makola Market.
ø Afternoon: Excursion to Kokrobite Beach near Winneba for leisure time on the beach and a cultural performance by the Kokrobite Academy of African Music and Arts.
ø Late Afternoon: Return to Accra.
ø Dinner and overnight in Accra.

Day 9 - Monday: Aburi - Lake Volta
ø Morning: Departure for Aburi to visit master carvers and drum makers. Lunch on the grounds of nearby Aburi Botanical Gardens. Drive on to Lake Volta with transfer to the Lake Volta Hotel overlooking Akosombo Dam and Lake Volta.
ø Afternoon: Boat trip on Lake Volta with visit to Dodi Island and a shoreline community of Volta fishermen.
ø Return for Dinner and overnight at Lake Volta Hotel.

Day 10 - Tuesday: Odumasi - Larteh - Accra
ø Morning: Hotel check-out, followed by visit to Odumasi for a demonstration of traditional Glass Bead manufacturing. Continue on to the Akwapim Ridge and the town of Larteh with Lunch in Larteh.
ø Afternoon: Witness a ceremony of Larteh Fetish Priestesses as they pour libations and invoke gods that inhabit sacred shrines in the area.
ø Return drive to Accra with Dinner and overnight in Accra.

Day 11 - Wednesday: Accra - Nungua
ø Morning: Trip to Nungua to see the Fantasy Coffins of Paa Joe & Paa Willie. Lunch in Accra at the Country Kitchen, featuring Ghanaian cuisine.
ø Afternoon: Visit to the National Museum, followed by City Tour of Accra, featuring the National Theater, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial and Independence Arch, finishing at the Artisan's Cultural Center for last minute shopping of Ghana arts and crafts.
ø Dinner at the hotel with 9:30 PM departure for the airport to board the return flight to New York City, arriving in New York on the following morning.

Arrival - Thursday
ø Arrive JFK Airport in New York early morning for onward connection to home city.
