Welcome to
SouthAfricaBound!
From
bushveld through deserts and forests, up winter
snow-capped peaks down to wide, unspoiled beaches and
coastal wetlands, lies the sprawling land called South
Africa.
Come
- gaze upon ever changing, endless vistas. Feel the
warmth of tropical and temperate climates. See the
floral carpets in Namaqualand stretch to the horizon in
springtime. Walk the cycad valleys in the northern
Province - unchanged since prehistoric times and home to
Modjadji the Rain Queen. Stand in the shadow of a giant
baobab tree - the ancient guardians of the north. Or
picnic in the Kirstenbosch Gardens of the fair Cape -
home to more that 6000 species of plant and tree.
When
the continents first shifted, Africa was blessed with
many natural gifts. Nowhere is this more evident, than
at the continent's southern-most tip - for this land at
the foot of the African continent is one of immeasurable
beauty and great contrast.
Many
species of bird flocked to South Africa - the same winds
that aided them also bearing countless spores. These
took root in the fertile earth, giving rise to a vast
floral kingdom. Herds of game, thousands strong wandered
here along ancient migratory trails, followed by
marauding predators like lion, leopard and cheetah.
The first people to call South Africa home, were the San
- evidence of their harmonious, nomadic existence is
still found in their ancient rock art. Proud nations of
warriors forged their way south - expanding their
dynasties and kingdoms.
This
land of unequalled splendor and diversity beckons you. |
